Problem statement
It turns out that the cardboard potion counters for The Wandering Towers are not resistant to having half a bottle of soda spilled on them… This was the main motivation behind creating these replacement counters.
They are proportioned similar to the stock counters, although as a symmetrical shape.
Files provided
- Zaubertrankflasche.f3d - Parametric design file
- Zaubertrankflasche.3mf - Manufacturing file
Slicing/printing recommendation:
- Colour change:
- If you use the default scale in the manufacturing file the model is 2mm thick, so choose a layer height that allows you to divide the model in half horizontally
- Slice the bottom half of the model in the primary colour of the potion you desire
- Slice the top half in a subdued colour representing the empty potion bottle
- The little wizard hat label is recessed so that if you slice the model in this way, the primary colour will show through as the wizard hat shape.
- Nozzle: I used a 0.25mm nozzle with a 0.1mm layer height
- Build plate: I used the Prusa textured plate for the nice effect on the primary colour side, but any should work.
NB. I know the design file is a hot mess… sorry! My CAD experience is limited to simple mechanical parts made out of nice simple geometric shapes, which fits nicely in my simple brain!
PS. In picture 1 there are some replacement towers that I have designed as well, you can find them here if you're interested.
