When I was a kid, my dad made one of these picking chicken toys out of wood. I absolutely loved it. Now, more than 30 years later, here is my 3d printed, minecraft themed version of it.
Four chicken are standing on a paddle. There is a string connected to each chickens neck and all strings are bond together on a weight. When you swing the paddle one chicken after the other is moving their head up and down - they're picking!
Assembly:
You need to thread a string through the head, body-bottom and the paddle into the weight. I've used 0.3mm nylon strings. It will be easier if you thread the string through the chicken before you assemble it.
My printer is not well calibrated, that's why I provided quite some clearances. Use glue wherever needed.
Fasten all four strings by threading them through the weight egg and screw tight both weight parts with M3x10 screws. To make the weight heavier, you can put some metal into the cavity. I've used 3x 10 Euro Cent coins.
