Desktop Spool Holder

Simple Spool Holder

Designed for use somewhere next to your printer. Print in your own colors to tickle your fancy.

Made for 1 Kg spools not exceeding a diameter of 220mm. 

No supports needed in any of the prints. Spool holder might need a brim to keep it in place on the printer (was hot day and crappy filament refused to stick)

Update (2024/03/11)

• Updated the spool holders and spool screws to screw in lot better without any struggles
• Added a spacer (Due to happy accident)
• Two versions of each spool holders are available
  • 80mm will require a spacer on each side. Initially printed spool holder too short and made a spacer and ended up liking it a lot
  • 100mm, no spacers required
• Spool screws with a slightly new design and thicker for easier gripping

Update

• Updated screw added (Small flat extended by 2mm, screw extended by 10mm)
• Updated bridge (Extended by 20mm)
• Original spool holder removed and replaced with two (Pick your poison)
  • Original 29mm outer diameter now called Embrace and extended by 20mm)
  • Brand spanking new 50mm outer diameter spool

Bill Of Materials

• 3D Printer
• Your favorite rigid filament
• Time

Frame x 2

• Layer Height : Just about any layer height that is normally used (0.2 to 0.32)
• Walls : 3+ (You want this strong)
• Infill : 25%+ (Again … strength) (Rectilinear with 25% is tough enough)
• Print Layout : Flat on it's side. Vertically should work but not really recommended

Bridge x 2

• Same as frame
• Print Layout : On the long flat side or just the side (latter makes the arches look better)

Spool Screws x 2

• Same as frame
• Print Layout : On the big flat disk

Spool Holder x 1

• Same as frame
• Print Layout : Standing up
• Might need brim as contact surface to bed is limited
