Stackable Stream Cage

This is a 3D printed model of the steam cage.   

A steam cage is a cooking apparatus that is essential for the making of Cantonese Dim Sum.  Steam cages are usually stackable so that the cook can stack them up vertically and steam multiple Dim Sum dish on one stove.  Traditional steam cage is made of bamboo strips as it is a commonly available material in the Canton area.

Print Setting

• Printer: Prusa Mini with input shaper
• Print sheet: Smooth PEI
• Nozzle diameter: 0.4mm
• Layer Height: 0.15mm
• Support: No
• Brim: Depends (see below)
• Multi-color: No

Print Instructions

Although the bottom of the steam cage is a thin ring, I managed to keep it sticking to the smooth PEI and complete the print without using a brim. A brim may be needed if there are adhesion issues on other print sheets. 

I turned on the fuzzy skin in the slicer settings to mimic the surface texture of bamboo. If bamboo or wood filled filament is used, please turn off the fuzzy skin setting.
