Main positive points from this design:

  • no interference with bed movement
  • full free movement in X and Z movement
  • easier maintenance in the changing sensor
  • good for my Direct Drive Extruder (and also to others)

Extras:

  • plain version or…
  • optional MicroSD card reader relocalization version

BOM:

  • MicroSD card reader (optional)
  • 1 ZipTies to hold wires inside the board case

History:

Some times when i change the Temperature sensor the wire is too short. With this solution i have always the full stroke for all axis of the Ender.

And also the wires in the back sometimes they grab the bed when moving and sometimes some artifacts occur because of this.

Also since i change the extruder to direct drive i also changed the wires for the front of the printer. ( a future release of my Direct Drive for simple maintenance will came!)

I looked for a solution to redirecting the wires to the side and couldn't find one.

So i did one!

One other thing that i disliked was after the printing is done, the bed goes forward and the Y motor locks the bed (maybe with gCode i could change this… hum), making difficult to access the MicroSD card. So i add also a location for a MicroSD card reader. In the photo is the “v1” (still in use) but the frame makes a little difficult to insert or remove the card. So the STL i make it longer to avoid this but didn't printed to test it ( i'm just a poor guy to being always reprinting new versions).

There is one version for a side MicroSD side Reader and a simple one just for the wires.

One other reason that convinced me to make this was that i made a Direct Drive Extruder and this made it work better.

Observations:

  • VERIFY if the MicroSD card reader fits in this model!
