I've been wanting to experiment with printing tiles on fabric (like this- https://www.printables.com/model/134-3d-fabric-experimentation), but then ran across an idea to print a fabric out of TPU (https://www.printables.com/model/88579-multiuse-flexible-fabric). I've got a 5-head XL and am playing around with it, so I combined those ideas and made this TPU web embedded in some simple hex tiles. There are tons of ways this could be done - different tile shapes, different web layout, ways to connect sections to make larger garments, etc. So I hope this gives everyone ideas.
I cheated a bit on the modelling by using a very thin plane to join all of the hex tiles into one body. It may look funny when you import the model but those planes should go away when you slice it. The TPU web is 1.2mm wide and 0.4mm high, so 0.2mm layer height with either a 0.4mm or 0.6mm nozzle will work. I used tricolor filament with concentric top & bottom layers on this print.
The author marked this model as their own original creation.
