Simple desk tray

What is this?

This a simple desk tray capable of holding a couple of writing utensils and some wider objects such as an eraser. Please note the “with betydlig cutouts” version requires third-party components to function as intended.

Third-party components

If printing the “with betydlig cutouts” version, you will need purchase four of Ikea's BETYDLIG brackets. Each one comes with a thin rubber anti-slip liner and a thick rubber anti-slip liner but only the thick anti-slip liner is used for this tray as rubber feet. That's so specific… why?

I had some spare ones laying around! I admit it's not very convenient for others hence why I also uploaded the “with flat bottom” version. If you do not have a need for the BETYDLIG brackets otherwise, please consider printing the “with flat bottom” version to avoid waste.

Dimensions

Below are the intended dimensions for the tray. Please double-check your scale before printing. The two thinner slots intended to hold writing utensils will be referred to as "thin slots" below. The single wider slot will be referred to as "wide slot" below.

Imperial

*0.125 in. fillet all along the bottom surface.

Metric

*3.175 mm fillet all along the bottom surface.

Printing suggestions

The “with flat bottom” version requires no support. The “with betydlig cutouts” version will require support for the cutouts. Any support printed should come out easy given that these cuts are straight but this will ultimately depend on your printer's settings and tendencies.
