A low-profile solution for affixing antifog to protective goggles.

I really like the super-low profile airsoft eye protection options (such as the smith optic boogie ventilators), but they all suffer from the same severe fogging issue. Shoving the Antifog tubes under the goggles can create pressure points and also compromise safety by creating a gap. I designed these barbs to be glued into place and take up the most minimal space possible while being strong.

Printing (important)

These must be printed with 100% infill.

Do NOT print these with the barb facing up. I have optimized these for printing laying “flat” as shown below. Enable variable layer height in your slicer and print with a .2mm or .4mm nozzle.

This will ensure that the stress lines are perpendicular to the layer lines. Print these in PETG or other material stronger than PLA (PA-CF, PA, ABS, Nylons, ASA, etc). These parts, depending on how you mount them will be subject to stress.

No supports needed.

Installation

As shown in the below photo, cut a small amount out of your gasket in order to slot in the barbed adapter, and make it flush with your goggle. You don't need to cut out too much, but just enough for the barb to fit in and not create a pressure point/hotspot at the installation site.

Then, as shown below, use superglue (gel type to avoid getting it all over your eye pro) to first affix the barb in place, and then to re-attach your gasket.

This barb is small enough to not be seen at all when using the goggles.

Testing

I have tested this design with a full day of usage, and they have faired extremely well even when pushed on very hard. I was unable to break these when printed properly by hand no matter how hard I tried to snap it at the barb.

Have fun and always wear full seal eye pro!
