Overview

The BookKeyPad is a stand that positions the Magic Keyboard and Magic Trackpad  together like a MacBook. The name pushes the words together just like the 3D model does to the accessories.

The stand tilts both Magic Devices so they lay flat, and it also positions them about as closely as I could measure to the spacing the MacBook Air M1 has.

I made this model to reduce the clutter on my still-cluttered desk. I mainly use a mouse, but I still like to use the Trackpad for multitouch gestures or scrolling.

My split ergonomic keyboard doesn't have Touch ID, so that's why I got the Magic Keyboard. The Magic TracKey raises the Magic Keyboard so I can more easily reach the Touch ID button.

Charging

Both accessories can be charged when placed in the BookKeyPad.

Files

The BookKeyPad comes as a single piece, which requires a printer with a large bed. One day, I may make a file that is easier to print on a bed size like the MK3/4.

Originally I had a modular design, but since it didn't work so nicely, like when picking up the whole assembly, I deleted those files.

I also set the licence and included the STEP file of the models to be more friendly as open-source hardware. Anyone can modify those files. I didn't model the Magic Devices perfectly, but they're good enough for what I needed them to do.

One day, I may modify the BookKeyPad to stand on just the rubber feet like when they're sitting on a desk.

Dimensions

For my own memory and for anyone else looking to work with these devices, here are the dimensions.

Apple's sizes are in centimetres, so I changed them to millimetres below. The heights they provide also include the rubber feet, which don't impact the fit into the TracKey. These were the dimensions I measured and derived.
