I created a rock tumbler fill level gauge to easily check to see if your rock tumbler is filled to the correct level in between tumbling steps.
The part is designed to be printed with the internal handle down and the fill level lines are angled for ease of printing. No Supports Needed!
Printed with PLA, and 0.2mm layer height.
After printing I used a black ultra fine paint pen to fill in the text and lines to make reading the level even easier.
How it works:
Add rocks to the rock tumbler and try to level off the top layer.
Then place the fill level gauge on top of the rocks and read the fill level line across the top of the tumbler as seen in the picture. (In this example it is ~5/8 full)
Add/Remove media or rocks to the tumbler and recheck until you achieve your desired fill level. It is recommended to fill a tumbler at least 1/2 (50%) full, but no more than 3/4 (75%) full. (I normally target around the 5/8 fill level)
Lastly once you are happy with your desired fill level, add water and desired grit and tumble away!
The initial design is for a National Geographic 3lb rubber rock tumbler. This may be able to be used for other 3lb tumblers, but I cannot confirm that they are all the same size for this to work.
If you have a different sized tumbler that you would like a model created for, please provide me the following dimensions (in millimeters) and I would be happy to modify to make one fit your desired size.

Update: 2/9/2024
I have expanded the number of models to include National Geographic Tumbler 1lb, Lortone 3lb and Lortone 6lb models!!! These models are in their respective folders, and I archived the original model as the new ones have some minor improvements to them. I have also included % fill level models from 10%-80% based on community feedback. Please continue to share any additional model dimensions to expand the library or other improvement feedback.
