I have developed (and possibly pushed to the limit) my ideas for compact chess that I have published before, in particular the CastleChess set. In the new project, a small box contains everything you need to play. And the kit is completely printed on the printer. In this chess, as in the previous ones, the pieces are inserted one inside the other, and also uncompromisingly adjoin each other with their heads like a thorn and a groove. But this time I came up with the idea of breaking the squares of the chessboard into 64 details (32 white and 32 black), which are placed inside the pawns. Of course, the installation and assembly of the board requires some time and the appropriate mood (about 4 minutes for installation for one person), but the set is as compact as possible, and the playing field can be of a normal size (or even infinite). And most importantly, you can create any configuration of the field and the arrangement of chess pieces. For example, as shown in the photo. The pieces are also quite large - their diameter is 26 mm (pawns - 19.6 mm).
The figures of bishops are made in the form of a miter, a rook - a tower, and for knights riders I used a saddle silhouette.
Support for printing pieces, boards and box is not necessary, gluing or processing is also not required. Figures and lids (two are required) snap into the box. I liked printing PETG - it is quite flexible plastic, which is important for the box, but at the same time durable material. For high-quality printing of packaging and most figures, a layer thickness of 0.2 is sufficient. Some of them (for example, knights) have smooth bends at the top, for them the best result with a smooth surface is obtained with a layer thickness of 0.7. And for parts with flat surfaces, you should enable smoothing.
The box lid can be printed with clear yellow plastic or black. I also made a version of a three-color cap (3mf file with filament change).
