Original model from rhcreations over at Sketchfab was made in Blender, which looks great in rendering software but when you export it the actual geometry was too simple for a high quality 3D print. 

I added “subdivision surface modifiers" to each of the letters, which increased the geometry substantially so that we get avoid that low-poly look of the original export. All that to say… when printed these look really nice. 

 

Recommendations: 

  • Scaled to 600% to give about 5.5" height
  • Adjust z-axis about 20mm to give the letters a flat back for mounting with command strips (if you don't you'll need supports most likely)
  • Use variable layer height to give the rounded top layer a smoother surface (uploaded pic of the settings)
  • I primed/sanded the letters using Rust-Oleum Automotive 2-in-1 Filler & Sandable Primer and then painted them with a coat of glossy spray paint (see the white H picture)
