Differences of the remix compared to the original

The excellent MagSafe Proclip Mount design by frez_knee had a couple of drawbacks for me:

  • The magnets were a right pain to insert with the print paused, and wouldn't fit properly without some serious force.
  • The adapter plate was designed to fit the ProClip but didn't allow for movement.

After upgrading to an iPhone 14 from an iPhone 11, I had a spare phone holder which didn't quite hold the phone as well as I wanted it to. Since the holder had a tilt/swivel joint on the back, I designed an adapter plate for it.

With that, you can take the holder itself off, but keep the ball joint, which gives you a bit more freedom in angling your phone.

To make it work, you will need

  • 2x M3x8 bolts to connect the adapter plate to the existing hardware
  • 2x M3x10 bolts to connect the MagSafe puck to the adapter plate
  • 2x M3 nuts held captive in the backside of the adapter plate for the MagSafe plate to attach to

Everything should be press-fit, but you may need to play with the tolerances. I printed this on a 0.6mm nozzle so my tolerances might be a bit tighter.

I've also kept the magnets exposed, since I like the aesthetic more (and if I cock it up, it makes it easier to remove them using a pair of sidecutters and a lot of swearing while I cut through the plastic).
