A while back I said that eventually I would post the wallet that went with the pics I made (on my guitar/bass pic model page). I decided instead to redesign it from the ground up. This version has a lot of improvements over the last one.
Features:
* All axles are now metal screws (to eliminate points of failure over long-term use)
* Holds 5 cards that are actuated with the lever on the bottom left corner (can be RFID shielded with aluminum tape)
* Lid is held shut with a small magnet
* Holds guitar pic on the front (pics can be downloaded and printed from my models page: https://www.printables.com/model/576006-guitarbass-pics-by-stereofreq )
* Single-fold cash compartment that can hold a fat stack!
* Thumb cut-away for easy access to cash compartment
* Very durable
* Feels nice in the hand and pocket
* Looks awesome!
Required Hardware:
* Six M3x15mm socket head cap screws https://www.amazon.com/dp/B089KTD5G3?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
* Two 6mm x 3mm magnets https://a.co/d/3E7lyOg
Other stuff you'll need:
* Super glue (recommended to use with activator) https://a.co/d/2YMf8fe
* Scissors
* Small piece of soft foam (can usually find in packaging from other products)
* Aluminum tape
Printing:
* All models can be printed with .4mm nozzle (.3mm layer height)
* If you want the Small Logo (front) under the pic, you'll likely need to print the Small Logo and Cash Compartment with a .2mm nozzle
* Print Cash Compartment face-down with supports touching build plate (all other models can be printed without supports)
* Orient the lid so the top prints face-down (that way no supports are required)
Assembly Instructions:
1. At minimum print all non-graphics models (everything but the lettering and logos)
Note: Before you move on, you may want to try threading the screws in the Card Compartment holes, until you're assured they start threading. Tolerances are very tight and depending on your print settings you may have issues threading them for the first time.
2. Glue the pic plate in on the back face of the Cash Compartment
3. Measure, cut, and apply some aluminum tape to Middle Plate on the face with the indentation which faces the card compartment (you can use the lever to smooth out any ripples/wrinkles)
4. Measure, cut and apply some aluminum tape to the card compartment
5. Measure and cut two small pieces of soft foam and glue into the recesses of the card compartment. They should stick out about 1 or 2mm from the inner edge. (These keep the cards from flying out when the lever is actuated)
6. Glue the magnet inside the Card Compartment slot on the top face (easiest to drop a dot of glue in the hole, place the magnet in the hole some of the way, turn upside down and press the magnet all the way in against the surface of a table)
7. Glue the other magnet into the lid slot (make sure it's facing the right direction to interface with the Card Compartment magnet!)
8. Put the middle plate against the back of the cash compartment (with the tape side facing outward) and thread the screws through the front of the cash compartment until they're flush with the back of the middle plate.
9. Place the Lid and thread the top screw for the lid hinge until it is flush with the back of the lid hinge
10. Place the Lever and thread the bottom screw for the lever until it is flush with the back of the lever![]()
11. Put the Card Compartment on the back with the tape side facing the middle plate, hold firmly together, and finish threading the screws
Note: If Lid or Lever is hard to move, just slightly loosen the respective screws until they move freely.
12. Apply logos and lettering and press in place (helps to use a small blunt tool for pressing edges in / graphical pieces should be able to be pressure-fit, but if anything's loose, just add a little dot of glue).
13. Print yourself a Stereo Freq guitar pic and put in the pic holder (recommend putting it in with the flat side facing out, for easier retrieval) https://www.printables.com/model/576006-guitarbass-pics-by-stereofreq
