This model contains the frame and several sample lithophane images that can be printed on a standard FFF 3D printer.

I have a paid version of this model with many more lithophane designs (Pikachu, Kratos from God of War, Groot, …).

The frame can be printed without supports, and no glue or screws are needed for its assembly. On a well-calibrated printer, everything can be printed so that the frame easily snaps together.

It is advisable to print the frame (files "box" and "frame") using dark-coloured PLA with a standard layer height of 0.20 mm. Lithophane images should be printed in white PLA with a layer height of 0.10 mm (or better) and 100% infill. I used Giantarm Black and White (affiliate Amazon.de, affiliate Amazon.com) and Prusament Galaxy Black and Vanilla White for the second batch and printed everything on a Prusa MINI+ with a 0.4 mm nozzle.

The following components are also needed for assembly:

  • 2×100 mm white LED strip
  • Barrel jack 5.5×2.5 connector with an outer diameter of ⌀12mm
  • Black and red wire for connecting the LED and the connector
  • Power supply 12V 1A (the LED strip of this size requires just under 1 W)

Notes:

  • Better results could be achieved by using 0.2 mm nozzle. I don't have this nozzle so I cannot try it now.
  • If you don't have PLA white and black filament, you can check out my other project, MakerDeals.eu. This website makes it easier to find, filter, and compare filaments available on Amazon.
