Using plastic pin mounts to secure angled aluminium LED extrusion in the Ikea Platsa enclosure. Simple screwless installation using pin-mounts that fit into the existing holes in the side of the enclosure.
Printing
- Enclosure base mount (with pin mounts):
- Material: I Prusament Anthracite Grey PETG, as these strips get hot and so PLA may warp over time.
- Print Settings (PrusaSlicer): 0.20mm Quality, 15% infill
- Supports: Support on build plate only
- Print Settings:
- Vertical shells → Permimeters: 4 (to make pins solid)
Hardware
- 2 x 50cm Angled Aluminium (V Type) Extrusion with milky white covers (sourced via eBay)
- 1m x 12V FCOB LED Strip (528 LEDs/m) 4000k (Natual White) (Supplier: BTF-Lighting)
- Flexible Chip On Board (FCOB) provide more even lighting (not bright dots of light) even without a diffusion cover for the strip.
- Power: ~13W (1.10A @ 12V) - 15W/m claimed rating
- Note: Adding lighting to your enclosure will increase the temperature, especially with the door closed.
