In our makerspace we ran into the need to have posit notes available next to a variety of equipment so that students could leave notes for each other or studio managers could leave feedback on prints, etc. We had an issue where if we found post-it notes (they walk if you can believe) we couldn't find a pen, and vice-versa. So we created this and it seems to be helping :)

This design has two files, one is the main holder and the second is a pen cap tether which optional, but also acts as an additional barrier to keep the post-it notes secure.  On a standard Prusa Mk3s it was printed in PLA at

  • 3.0mm layer height (draft)
  • 10% infill
  • 2 shells
  • and took about 2.5 hours. The design is probably a little thicker than it needs to be, but I like sturdy objects.

For our prototype we used hot glue to assemble the pen tether and attach the magnets, though a more heavy duty adhesive might be required depending on use. We used these round magnets which have a diameter of of 10mm and a thickness of 2.6 mm. If the surface you want to use isn't metal, you could use 3M strips or velcro strips instead of magnets.

The photos show an older prototype. The files here are the same for the most part except we curved the bottoms of the blocks on either side to make it easier to pull the post-it note free.
