Uploader comment:
This is not my model, and is a reupload. I found this fantastic print-in-place Chinese folding fan and its stand hiding deep in the Thingiverse. While it is made for the year of the goat, I think it still holds up well, and may give others ideas for remixes (which are allowed by the original license). I added some of the creator's original instructions that were buried in the comments. Please note that only one model (the red one) was uploaded to Thingiverse and the remainder are for sale by the creator. However, the creator had uploaded images of the for sale ones as well. I changed the order of the images so that the one here is the first one to show. It may be worth cutting the model in your slicer to test the mechanism before printing the entire thing. Notice that the image shows fishing line in the holes toward the top of the fan to hold the pieces together
Original text (as of 1/27/2024):
As Chinese New Year is nearing soon, furthermore in regards to this year as its the Lunar Year Of The Goat, I've designed an oriental Chinese folding fan collection for decorative and practical usage. The Chinese calligraphy on the (Wood & Gold) fan refers to the word 'GOAT' in Mandarin. The Red fan calligraphy describes a prosperous and fortune abundance during this Year Of The Goat.
The 1st visual which the model is holding refers to the fan printed in WOOD PLA material, 2nd visual fan is printed in GOLD PLA material and the RED fan is printed with RED PLA material (embossed with Chinese calligraphy and Goat pattern).
I've decided to upload the RED fan to share with everyone who's interested in printing it (it's also in www.instructables.com ) .
As for the other 2 fan designs, the STL files can be purchased in www.cgtrader.com (http://www.cgtrader.com/3d-print-models/art/other/3d-printed-chinese-oriental-folding-fan-in-gold-filament and http://www.cgtrader.com/3d-print-models/art/other/3d-printed-chinese-oriental-folding-fan ). For those who would wish to purchase the 3D printed models, please do contact me for further arrangement.
Instructions
*Important note: All filament type usage varies, so if the fan is very loose, just use fishing tackle line (5 pounder line) should be sufficient to tie the fan ribs together.
