Lighthouse 1/1000

Lighthouse for 1/1000 scale games with LED lamp.

Based on examples of North European at-sea lighthouses in use around the time of the Napoleonic War.

Scaled roughly for 1/1000 (making the top around 70m or 230ft above water level).

Printed on Bambu Labs X1C in multi colour (.3mf included) in Grey, Bone white and red PLA. The glass printed in transparent PETG (though PLA would be fine).  Roof printed in Red PLA.

The rocks were partly covered in fine grey modelling ballast and painted with raw umber, light mocha and white acrylic.

Battery is a CR2032 lithium button battery.  I think I paid about $18AUS for 50.  I have had one in the lighthouse pictured for 6 days now and it's still going…

I printed the lighthouse in 0.16 layer height with snug support on (for the battery cavity in the base) no raft or brim.

The glass was 0.2mm layer height with a brim.

Roof was 0.12 layer height with snug support to keep the rim clean so it snaps easily into the top of the glass tube.

Battery clip was 0.2mm layer height, no raft, brim or supports.

Print time (on X1C standard speed) is about 3 hours for multi-colour, about 1 hour 15 mins for single colour, plus a few extra minutes for the glass and roof.

Solder approx 75mm of wire to the tails of the LED and cover with heatshrink.  Feed the wires down from the top so the LED sits snugly in the top of the lighthouse.  The glass will slide over the top of the LED and snap gently into place.  Be careful of the crenelations as you can damage them if you are too rough on this part.

You can glue the wires at the bottom to the insides of the battery clip or slide them in, the tension is enough to hold them in place once you push the battery in.  Then fold the wires back into the base and lastly push the battery and clip into the hole.
