#0119 IKEA HUGAD Curtain Rod Mount

We have an 8-foot wide closet that we wanted to provide some visual separation from the room.  Decent looking closet doors are pretty expensive ($300-$800 USD), so we opted for an alternative from IKEA so we have abundant choices for curtain styles and colors.

The IKEA HUGAD curtain rod suits our needs but IKEA doesn't have the mount that we wanted to install on the inside door frame of our closet.  So, I designed my own.

The rod spacer shown below is an optional replacement for the one that came with the package to space out the 2 telescoping rod sections. Personally I think this one looks a bit better - your choice.
 

Other things you'll need:

1. M5 or #10 Flat Head wood screws (2x)

Printing Recommendations:

1. Print using either PLA/PETG/ABS are fine for this application.
2. Use 0.2mm layer and 0.4mm nozzle.
3. For the drop-in cap, there's a small gap between the “half moon” shape and the base, to allow for some “snap retention” of the rod.  Make sure this area is free to allow the snaps to work.  If there is some binding, use a utility blade to cut and free that area.
4. You may need to print the rod spacer with a 2-3mm brim, depending on your bed adhesion needs.
