This object is meant to serve the same purpose as the its original version, but to do it better.

The biggest functional change is that its arms no longer bend around inside the extruder mount, it just drops into the holes in the mount (with cutouts for wire passage) for stability and supports itself on the outside of the mount only. This is meant to allow it to be installed without breakage, and to keep it from getting close enough to the extruder that it becomes soft from the heat and stops holding the fan in position.

I've also thickened and changed the angle of the lip that props the fan in place, the previous lip was either too weak or softened and I ended up with a fan that started to melt on the extruder. Lots of areas have been thickened and strengthened.

This design will likely not print without support, but I dare you to try.

EDIT - 08/1/15 - I did use this for a while, but had printed this piece in PLA, and it sits so close to the hot extruder that it started to droop. So I've replaced it with a cut section of a tin can zip tied to the carriage.
