I designed this flood light with 365 nm UV LEDs and a matching UV pass filter in mind but you could also not subject yourself to invisible eye damaging radiation and opt for any other LEDs in the visible spectrum of light.

If you want to use UV LEDs be aware of the risks and take all necessary safety precautions while working on and using the LEDs.

Electronic Components

  • 8x 3W COB LEDs of your choice
  • 1x voltage and current regulator like the “arceli buck boost converter”
  • 1x usb-c trigger module like the “ALAMSCN PDC004-PD”
  • 2x Fans 50x10 mm

Other Components

  • heat sink 110x22x18 mm with its fins running along the long side
  • 4x M4x13 mm screws
  • thermally conductive glue
  • reflective foil
    • mirror foil for visible LEDs
    • aluminum foil for UV LEDs
  • optional for UV light: band-pass filter 150x50x2 mm for the same wavelength as the LEDs

Both parts are designed to be printed without support.

Flood Light Cooling

  • heat sink gets pressed in
  • LEDs get soldered together and glued onto the heat sink
  • other electronics get mounted
  • while doing the wiring notice the position of the cutouts in the reflector for the wires to go through

Flood Light Reflector

  • the reflective foil must be glued onto the inside walls of the reflector
  • the reflector can be mounted atop the heat sink from the open side (opposite to the mounted circuit boards) and should be held in by the clips on the other side
    • the clamping mechanism holding the two parts together can be seen in the 5th picture
