We have a Juwel 70 aquarium in my kid's room. The original air diffuser, included by the Juwel BioFlow One Filter/Heater combo works fine, the water current in the fish tank was so strong, that the fishes acted irritated. Also, the tuning of the air diffuser was always a compromise in noise and effectiveness when you have sleeping kids in the same room.
So I did a few iterations of creating the right waterfall, which is pretty silent, adds enough oxygen and keeps a natural current without disturbing the animals was the goal.
So, there are a few variants:
- Waterfall with around 19-degree angle (0-degree angle would be water level): Very silent, slow current
- Waterfall with around 8-degree angle: slightly more current, also a bit more oxygen into the aquarium, slightly more hearable than the 19-degree version.
- Shower-like waterfall with several holes at around 19-degree angle. The oxygen exchange is even higher, which also makes it more noticeable.
New:
- Shallow at the waterline. It is just about noiseless. The water exists slightly over the waterline, but still makes enough movement on the water as well as enough current inside the tank to circulate the water. This is our new favorite!
We kept the original 19-degree one and it works nicely
Do you have the Juwel Bioflow Super? I made a version for that as well.
Print-Parameters:
- Use (clear/non-colorized) PETG or other food and aquarium safe materials.
- You don't need support, but I highly suggest configuring variable layer heights! They make overhangs super smooth - especially at rounded holes.
- Please check out the screenshots: Put the object on it's side to make printing super easy
Note to variable layerheights:
- Take a look in PrusaSlicer → Printer Settings → Extruder 1:
- You can modify the minimum and maximum layer heights. Keep in the Min and Max settings which are possible with your nozzle diameter, but may reduce the Max and increase the Min range a bit.
- For example: Original: Min: 0.07, Max 0.30 to Min: 0.10, Max. 0.25
- Inside the Variable Layer Height Windows at the Plater-Tab, play around with the value at the “Adaptive” Button. Default is 0.50, but may be 0.30 will be just a slightly longer, but more quality print.
Release Notes:
V1:
- First release of these 3 Variants
V2:
- Enhanced the 19 degree versions with a better inside flow, which reduces turbulences and levels out the flow rate.
2024-02-21:
- Added a new variant which is lower and shallow.
