This is a simple, yet good-looking, recycling bin for used batteries. The hole will accommodate a D size battery.

Materials :

  • Not really important, but copper silk PLA is the way to go if you want to mimic the Duracell look.

Print settings:

  • Supports : Only required for the following part : “Battery Bin_Top.stl”
  • Layer height : 0.2 mm
  • Infill : 40%
  • Walls : 4 perimeters with a 0.4 mm nozzle
  • Orientation : see picture for suggested orientation

Special considerations:

  1. This container will become quite heavy when it's full. This is why I used some beefy print parameters.
  2. Since you have two cylinders screwing together, you need to think about seam placement carefully. I think it is better to have a "single aligned seam"  than using a random position on each layer. It looks better.
  3. There's a registration mark on both parts (see picture). Rotate the parts so the registration marks are oriented on the back of your print bed. Then place the seam on the back (using this option in your slicer). Doing that will ensure that once screwed together, seams on both parts will be aligned together.
  4. Finally, use some super glue to secure the disk on the top lid.
