I recently bought a new Dremel 4300 kit because my old Dremel 395 started having vibrations at low to medium speeds. I already had the Dremel model 212 Drill Press stand but, to my disappointment, the new Dremel 4000 would not fit in the original  Dremel holder. Actually no surprise there. So I made one to fit the 4000. Beats shelling out $45 for a new drill press just for the 4000.

The Dremel model 212 drill press stand is not required so you could simply just use this holder clamped in a vise for stationary use.

The arbor mount hole depth in relation to the depth gauge mount hole depth on the new holder are not the same as the original holder but, for my needs that was not a necessity. As long as I have enough travel to drill my PC boards, that is all I need. The mount hole depths are only about 0.25" shallower than the original holder so for me, no big deal as I wasn't concerned about being that detailed about it.

I provided a vent for the 4000 on the back side of the holder. The design requires 6-32 brass insets heat pressed into the holder clamps. The Mouser part number is 153-IUTB-623. These work extremely well and are super easy to place using only a solder iron. As far as the knobs are concerned, I used #6-32 X 1.75" machine screw with a nylock nut captive inside the knob. I just placed the nylock inside the knob, threaded the screw as tight as possible, cut the screw to length and files the ends. I designed a hex inset that covers the nut that sits flush to the outside end of the knob. You can glue the insert if you desire but, I did not. It fits rather snug as it is. I also designed caps that will cover the screw head on the other end. Makes for a nice solid looking piece with those in.

I printed @ 0.20mm and recommend this or higher resolution. Hope someone will find a use for this as I did. ;p
