This is the first Planetary Explorer Module modular spaceship, suitable for holding 3.75 inch / 1:18 scale action figures.

The different parts plug in to each other, allowing for many different possible combinations, if you print a few of them. Will try to add a few photos showing some alternatives. Does not require any glue, screws or tools to assemble.

The seat features a removable back that hides an area that can be used for smuggling.

The seat tops have little 5.0 mm holes that you can use to plug in various things, like antennas or blasters or whatever - see https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6244455 for some accessories. It also has a slot where you can slide in a plastic "window" film.

If you need some vintage figures to put in your ship, there are some here: https://www.ebay.com/str/petesactionfigures Or you can print yourself some figures from other designs of mine here on thingiverse!

The parts use the "pla snap connector e" that I have also posted separately here to thingiverse. You can also design your own modules that plug in to these, if you use the connector, they will connect! Please let me know, I would love to see them if you make some!

Note that the wings have little 5.0 mm holes that you can use to plug in various things, like antennas or blasters or whatever - see https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6244455 for some accessories.

For more designs that I haven't gotten a chance to put on here yet, see https://petrusmono.com/pems

I have a few of these up for sale here: https://www.petesactionfigures.com/product/3d-printed-modular-spaceship-alpha-9-ship-space-alien-fun

Enjoy!

Rafts:

No

Supports:

Yes

Resolution:

Infill:

Filament: Coex3D PLA

Notes:

Printed the ship tail front rotated by 90 degrees, so that the plugs are on the bottom and the open space points upward (to avoid having to put lots of supports).

Printed the top in a vertical position, rotated about 15 degrees (with supports) with the opening at the bottom, so that the space for the window film is preserved. This wastes a lot of plastic on the supports, but I couldn't figure out another way to make sure the space for the window film got preserved.

The rest of the parts did not require supports, or only supports on build plate.

Assembly Instructions

Be gentle when assembling the very first time, it gets easier after that! Can be disassembled and reassembled in different configurations, that is the point! Can also mix and match with parts from other ships and vehicles in the Planetary Explorer Module series!

The seat back snaps in to the seat. The seat back is hollow and can be used by the pilot to hide / smuggle things. Once the seat back is snapped in to the seat, the way to remove it again is to stick a paper clip into the small hole in the back and push forward gently. That will move the top of the seat back forward a little bit and then can be moved the rest of the way using fingers.

The tail / engine module section has a fairly large internal compartment where you can put stuff. Probably can fit a figure or 2 in there. Or an actual engine!

How I Designed This

Used Tinkercad, because I don't know how to use anything else yet.
