A friend saw a large, painted version of this and asked me to design a smaller, 3D printed version for his office door.
I used the first layer inlay technique that I learned from Devon at Make Anything. Basically, load both parts at the same time so they are perfectly centered, then slice each one individually. Print the inlay gcode first, swap colors then print the base gcode while the first print is still on the build plate.
