MK4 Y axis one piece belt holder Mod.
I made this mod to stabilize the Y axis belt mount. The one screw for the Y axis belt holder and tensioner I consider a good, but not a great design. I have had the belt holder come loose and cause Y home problems.
The Y axis belt holder and tensioner are merged into 1 piece. 2 bolts now hold one piece for a more secure mount. More resistent to moving or coming loose during the Y homing or regular movement. This mod removes the belt tensioner It must be replaced with another mod for the Y axis tensioning
This is the one I used https://www.printables.com/model/585494-prusa-mk4-y-axis-belt-tensioner, there are others.
I printed this with 4 profiles, 50% infill, 0.2mm layers and PETG.
Update---- Sept 2024
I suggest ASA or better now for heat tolerance. I updated mine. The MK4S replaced the belt holder/adjuster parts with PCCF. I believe it was driven by heat related issues with the PETG version.
--------
See the picture for print orientation. No supports are needed.
The extra profiles increase the strength of the areas in the bolt holes and the overall strength of the belt holder. The bolts can be tightened without collapsing the part.
This attaches the same as the original. It uses screws to lock the Y axis belts in. Attach the belts, install the belt bolts then attach the holder to the Y axis. The slotted bolt hole is towards the front of the printer. The non slotted bolt hole towards the back, closest to the Y axis.
This mod does not improve the ability to start the bolts In the Y axis bed when mounting. Always be careful to start the bolts correctly when mounting to the Y axis.
The picture showing the part mounted has a small tab sticking out that has been removed in the final mod.
The author remixed this model.
This mod merges the MK4 Y axis belt holder and Y axis tensioner into 1 piece. For better stability of the belt holder.
