Print-In-Place Dishwasher Status Bar

This is my entry for the “Makerbot Thingiverse Firstbuild Countertop Challenge”

I can’t tell you how many times I have started to stick dirty dishes into a clean dishwasher, or how much time I’ve wasted holding glasses up to the light to figure out if they had been run. Not anymore! This simple solution takes out all the guess work, and saves me time and money (by not having to run a load twice because I dumped coffee onto my clean dishes). Now I simply slide the bar to “I’m Clean” when I start a load, then back to “Clean Me” when I empty it.

The status bar prints as one piece with no assembly required, simply snap off the custom built supports, mount above your dishwasher (I’ve used a 3M Command Strip for easy removal since I’m in an apartment building, but any double sided tape or adhesive would also work for a more permanent solution), and stop guessing about whether or not your dishes are clean.

I have included files for single extruder and dual extruder print (the single extruder file could also be finished with paint or marker if you wish), as well as a more plain Clean/Dirty option.

Instructions

1. Print as oriented (it's tall!)
2. Break off custom built supports
3. Mount above, on, near, or around your dishwasher
4. Never wonder about those dirty dishes again!
