Take a look at the pictures to see what I've created (upper insert) compared to the standard (lower insert). I can't speak to the structural strength (or weakness) of my model - add comments if you have some.
If you have settings that have already been working with the HSW system, then you should be good to go. If not, what I've been doing is:
The face looks pretty ugly (I've been printing with the face down as the first layer) but the exposed face is pretty small and once I add an a specific insert it's not noticeable at all.
