This is a replacement pre-filter catch for a Dyson DC07 model vacuum cleaner. Information online suggests it may also work with other models, including the DC14 and DC33.

I made this repair over five years ago and it is still working great. The original part had snapped off at some point leaving the filter held only loosely in place. The vacuum still worked, but there was a significant loss of suction due to air escaping around the filter. This part holds the filter tightly in place, restoring full power.

I had to remove what was left of the original catch using a pair of pliers and quite a bit of force. The replacement snapped into place easily.

I have uploaded a new version of the model that is now in the correct orientation for printing. I printed with a brim and no supports, but you may want to enable supports for the overhang.

The original part is long gone. The third picture shows an identical part from an ebay listing.

How I Designed This

I used the code from this forum post for circle tangents to build the outline of various pieces: http://forum.openscad.org/Script-to-replicate-hull-and-minkoswki-for-CSG-export-import-into-FreeCAD-td16537.html#a16556

This was one of my first openscad designs. I would probably do this much differently now using the BOSL2 library.
