Munchkin Box Insert: Optimized for Small Printers

I wanted to play around with Tinkercad and I made a box insert for the game “Munchkin”. This fits the box of German “Munchkin 1+2” (I do not know whether other boxes share those dimensions or not.)

There is also a small space (8 mm wide) to fit additional cards or small counters.

In contrast to other inserts, I had three design goals:

  • Small printers: optimized for small printers (like the Prusa Mini) because splitting existing models often results in very thin walls.
  • Stability: so that you can take the insert out of the box regularly to play and use it as a cardholder in the game.
  • Easy access to the first card of every pile: I would rather not have a rim around the first cards of a stack, to have easy access to them without lifting the insert.

Printing

I've printed my copy using Prusament Recycled PETG using 0.2 mm layer height and 3 perimeters. No brim or supports are needed.

Ideas for Improvement

  • There is no dedicated spot for the D6 die
  • The small “buffer” space of 8 mm could be wider
  • … ?
