When my original drill bits case broke, I was looking for a replacement to 3D print. I found the drill bits cylindrical case by Dagongar, which I liked.

Additionally, I had a strange collection of other loose drill bits. So the case was not fitting completely. I remixed it in Fusion 360 by removing the inner bit holder and just leaving the outer shell with a nice grip design.

The inner bit holder I designed parametrically in OpenSCAD with the following important parameters:

  • Drill Diameter is an array of the diameter of each drill, sorted in descending order. The first will be placed on the outer level.
  • Drill Length is an array (of the same size) of the corresponding length of each drill.
  • Free Height is how far the smallest drill bit will stick out. All others are aligned to this height.

Design your inner bit holder, export it to Drillbits.STL. Create a project, import the Drillbits.stl, import Drillcase.stl, and combine both and slice together.

Differences of the remix compared to the original

I remixed the STL file of the case in Fusion 360 by removing the inner bit holder and just leaving the outer shell with nice grip design.

The cap is original.
