This project had two inspirations. The “Serious Clamp It Square” by J-Max is amazing.

This thing is stiff, which is needed for clamping. It is large and feels strong when you hold it in your hands. It is also an hours long print and uses up filament. It is indeed a serious tool.

Then, I came across this page with several “Pocket Tools”.

These were nice and reminded me of J-Max’s design. The try square was new, and got me thinking. I could build a nicer try square using the “Serious Clamp” as the basis.

After a few hours of design and adjustment using Blender, I had the Try Square & Corner Clamp Assembly Combo. It is nice and thick, so the edge of a skill saw can easily ride against it. It puts my cheap commercial square to shame.

If you need more inspiration, here is a commercial corner clamp from Rockler, https://www.rockler.com/mini-clamp-it-assembly-square
You can see they are using a similar thick, blocky, design. Instead of sloted holes, they used multiple pockets to allow the clamp to be positioned.

Each design works well for the materials used. You decide what will work best for your building style.
