Decoy Pidgeon egg

In urban areas where pigeon overpopulation poses a growing concern, artificial or decoy eggs are frequently employed as an effective and humane method to manage the population. These synthetic eggs, often crafted from sustainable materials like plastic, closely mimic the size, color, and texture of real pigeon eggs.

The purpose of decoy eggs is to influence the breeding behavior of pigeons. Pigeons tend to breed rapidly and produce multiple clutches per year. By placing decoy eggs in pigeon nests, the birds are deceived. They continue to incubate the decoy eggs, investing their time and energy in caring for something that is not viable. This, in turn, reduces the number of viable eggs, effectively keeping the pigeon population manageable.

This method is animal-friendly, avoiding the use of harmful chemicals or aggressive interventions. Decoy eggs offer a sustainable solution for regulating pigeon populations in urban environments where traditional methods are often impractical. Implementing decoy eggs as part of a comprehensive management program helps maintain a healthier balance between humans and nature in urban areas.

I don't know which pigeons are harmful. In the Netherlands it is mainly the turtledove (Streptopelia turtur) and urban/rock pigeon (Columba livia domestica) that cause annoyance and polution.

 

Resize it to your needs and print it in the color you like or print it in PLA and paint it. You need to print the eggs solid for weight. It is also advisable to print the case at 0.1mm hight so those animals don't see the lines. Otherwise, they'll just throw those things out of the nest and lay some working eggs instead. ;)
