I made an insert to store and organize 20mm Bench Dogs in a 2U x 4U bin based on LuckyResistor's excellent original design. I argue this is the most complete and well-considered “stackable bins on a grid” system around; if you haven't seen it already you should check it out. I hope this Remix helps to build community support and engagement for the LuckyResistor design!
Design Notes:
- The organizer plate nests into a 2U x 4U bin (120mm x 240mm overall).
- I supplied an STL for a slightly modified bin that removes the label mounting area integrated into the original design. However, this is optional and the insert fits the original design as well.
- My bench dogs are a mix of TSO and UJK brands and measure 19.80mm. The holes are sized for a easy but not sloppy fit, so they slide in easily but don't wiggle or rattle excessively.
- Design accommodates (18) Bench Dogs, and (2) M8 star knobs
Variations:
- 2U x 4U Bin - (18) Bench Dogs, (2) Star Knobs
- 2U x 4U Bin - (21) Bench Dogs
- 1U x 2U Bin - (8) Bench Dogs
Print Settings I used:
- Print face-down, i.e. with the top of the plate facing the bed.
- I printed in PLA as follows and thought it to be sufficient:
- 0.4mm nozzle
- 0.20mm layer height
- 3 perimeters
- 4 solid layers top / bottom
- 20% infill, type Rectilinear
If there is interest, I can make additional configurations for different Bin sizes and quantities of Bench Dogs. Let me know what you're looking for.
The author remixed this model.
Differences of the remix compared to the original
Created insert for additional organization of bench dogs. Also modified the original Bin design to remove the stick-on label area.
