When I was a kid in the 90's I had a small liquid hourglass with a spiral ramp. I always wished they would make larger ones with more intricate ramps and steps. Now I have the power to make these hopes and dreams come true.

I decided to start by recreating the spiral design as a challenge to see if I could get it working. I ended up with a result that works, but not as good as I hoped. I need to experiment with different drop nozzle sizes.

I've uploaded all the STLs, along with the Inventor part file and STEP files in case anyone wants to try making their own designs.

Parts needed:
I used this 2" diameter x 6" long 2mm thick acrylic tube found on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B086KYXKMB
Hot glue/glue gun
Cyanoacrylate glue
Also enough mineral oil to fill the tube, and some food coloring for the water.

Instructions:
Print 2x Base at .2mm PETG. I printed with extra top and bottom layers, and perimeters to help avoid leakage.
Print 2x Drop nozzles at .1mm PETG. I printed it on its side with supports for the nozzles. There are two seperate drop nozzle files. The V1 is older and creates smaller bubbles, but has trouble receiving them at the bottom. The other creates larger bubbles than I anticipated.
Print 2x Spacers at .2mm PLA or PETG.
Print 1x Spiral Top and 1x Spiral Bottom at .1mm PETG or PLA. It may be possible to print without supports. I ended up adding supports around the edge of the spiral to avoid print failures. I also came close to printing the entire spiral as one piece, but I split it into two files to make it easier. Remove the included rafts while removing supports.

Assemble parts as shown in the images. I used glue on the top and bottom of the tube, and hot glue around the outside on the base to prevent leaking.
I added mineral oil before adding the top nozzle, then add the food colored water before attaching the top base.
