A Gridfinity base that snaps on to the top bar of the Creality Ender 3 S1 and S1 Pro. This remix adds slightly larger, teardrop shaped magnet holes to the original model. This makes printing easier because overhangs are minimized thanks to the teardrop.

For the 2x1 model, there's both a left-side and a right-side version. Pick this based on which side of the printer it will go on: the 2x1 grabs the top bar only under one of the segments so the other segment can hang on top of the end of the bar. If you are going to put the 2x1 in the middle it doesn't matter which one you pick.

You can fit two 2x1s (one left, one right) and one 1x1 on the top bar along with the original filament holder.

Mounting

When you are putting them on, do it carefully! The front side of the base is the part with the short “bar grabby” thing. This grabber has two teeth on it that matches up with the indentations on the bar, make sure these match up first before pushing it down to snap into place. See the last picture here for details.

If you don't align the base correctly, the longer back grabber can end up grabbing the bar too tightly and the base will become stuck in place. If that happens, you'll see that the long back grabber will be sticking out from behind the bar. Use a hammer and screwdriver to tap it and it should get unstuck.

For the right side, be careful around the cables for the light and the filament sensor. The light cable especially is at the rightmost end of the bar, so if you try to push the base all the way to the right edge you might end up crushing that cable.

Pictured print

The prints in the pictures were done on the Ender 3 S1 Pro, with 20% gyroid infill and 0.2mm layer height. They are all Inland PLA+ filaments.

The bins on top are not my designs, but if you'd like any of them here they are:

Code

The OpenSCAD files for this are available here: https://gitea.bgenc.net/kaan/3D-prints/src/branch/main/Gridfinity/EnderTopBarBase

It's not really customizable so I didn't include the SCAD file here, but feel free to check it for reference. The teardrop shape is from this cool parametric teardrop module: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3457
