Safety First!

110V PTC heaters have live mains voltage on the heating coil. Only for use by those knowledgeable and comfortable with mains wiring.

I made an DIY insulated enclosure for my Creality Ender 5 Pro to print ABS/ASA. I was able to achieve 45-50C chamber temps with my enclosure, but wanted increased temperature to ensure strong prints as well as reduced chamber heating times.

This bracket allows the mounting of 60mm fan PTC heaters. I mounted this low in the chamber for easy wiring and to ensure the build volume was somewhat uniformly heated. The 250 watt heater that I ordered from Amazon really runs at 650 watts peak and about 350 watts stable. The chamber of my Ender 5 with a “top hat” that is open below the X gantry (so the gantry can move) can now achieve 62-63C when printing. The bracket mounts so the fan flows parallel to the 2020 extrusion. The heater housing screws with M3 hardware to Voron size (M3 x 4mm thick) heat set inserts. Use your favorite extrusion hardware to fasten the bracket to your frame.

Fusion 360 model is uploaded. Functional, but messy. Feel free to remix.

Print Settings/Materials:

PLA NOT recommended. It may work for testing, but will warp at higher chamber temps. (Grey Prototype bracket in photos)

ABS/ASA and other high temperature materials are suitable.

I used 2 walls, 2 top/bottom, 45% infill, .32 layer height, .6 line width on a .4 nozzle to rapid prototype this.

Print with the flat face down (imported orientation is not useful). No supports needed.

BOM:
