About

Variation of my M6 thumb screw cap, but designed from the start to be a better fit for an M4. Less (and bigger) facets on the sides for better grip.

A very simple but effective thumb screw head/cap, intended to be put on top of an Allen/Inbus M4 bolt (DIN 912 / ISO 4762). I use made this one to put on some replacement bolts

Printing

  • Printed on Bambu X1 Carbon
  • PLA, ABS or PETG
  • 0.4mm print head
  • 0.2mm layer height
  • No supports
  • 3 wall loops, and an 25% infill, closing wall gaps.
  • Looks nice on a textured PEI sheet

Customisations

I have left the top surface smooth, so you can add an icon or letter on it. For example you can add a number indicating the size, or a double (refresh) arrow or …

Assembly

For most applications, it is sufficient to align the allen key hexagon of the thumbscrew head with the hexagon recess of the bolt, then firmly pressing them together. It's also possible to glue in place permanently with cyanoacrylate or similar glue. The head should stick firmly without glue tough, unless removed frequently.
