Designed in the same way as the others to be a real world print that throws a correct Space Invader character shadow when positioned correctly to a bright light source.

I threw together a quick stand that also shows exactly what shadow the actual print creates when lit from above.

This is one of 3 different ships each throwing their own distinct shadow.

To be brutally honest with the space invaders, Nobody was more surprised than me that they actually printed. They were more of a ‘can I create them’ thing over printing them, so when I ended up with all 3 printed? Bonus.

Not the easiest print as it stands, but definitely possible. I printed it using Cura as the slicer and with tree supports. I printed it flat on the bed and not in high detail as it was more a test of an idea at the time. But the photo shows that it worked as intended and shows the real shadow on the real world print.

In hindsight I should have gone for dynamic quality.

I added a simple stand with the base using the actual printed ships outline for those times when someone asks if they should recognise the ship from somewhere (happened with two people so far who have seen my finished print). The ship itself doesn't inspire recognition, but its shadow definitely does.
