Sparrows lock holder/grip for lockpick training.

I created this for those who want an easier way to hold a sparrows lock without using a vice.

UPDATED FILES NOTE:-

One user found his locks were slightly too large for the original version. I have done a new version with a larger inner void to allow for around 1mm extra length and width of the lock body in the holder. This new version is easily identified as it also has a larger tool void than the single pick holder slot of the original.

I have also added two size test pieces. I took a slice from both versions and created quick print stl's so you can check which version suits your own locks best. These should also help anyone trying to resize based on percentage.

Pictures show my 2nd and 3rd versions of the holder. Very minor changes between them to arrive at the latest version (4). The latest stl has a slightly lower cut for the key to be stored so that it now sits below the level of the lock face but is otherwise identical to the orange version in the pictures.

Orange version was printed in TPU, white was PLA.

Notes:

This version works well in either PLA or TPU.

PLA gives a nice tight fit with zero wiggle room. There is a cutout in the base to allow for pushing any tight fitting lock back out of the holder.

TPU also gives a snug fit, but it is obviously a lot easier to push the lock out of the TPU print than the PLA version.

Either way they both hold the lock firmly with no wobble or play so are perfect for feedback through the tensioner with no false movement from the lock.

As well as the facility to put the key in the side slots for safe keeping while working on the lock, there are also some very fine slots in the print (.5mm x 3mm). These additional slots were implemented from version 3 onwards to allow for sticking your current pick in there when having to put it down for whatever reason. Alternatively you could have a secondary pick in there in case its needed.

Depending on your printers tolerances and the choice of filament, those extra tool slots for picks may not work as well for one user as for others but do not affect the basic design requirements of making it easier to hold a lock than without. If they do work for you though, the slots directly north, south, east, and west, all go straight through the holder, with only the adjacent slots stopping 3mm short of the bottom.
