This is a version of my dome design for the SecKit SK-Tank, for version 2, with 2020 aluminum extrusion for the legs.

Most, if not all, dome accessories for the v1 should also work on the v2.

I found the dome platform to be particularly difficult to print well enough to get the legs to fit.  I plan to refine the design over time to be easier to print and easier to fit the legs. For now I have these recommendations for how to print it:

  • Use a short layer height  (I used 0.1mm); this should remove the need for supports;
  • Print at a low speed (60mm/s or less);
  • Use no supports;
  • Print the platform upside-down, with the leg sockets pointing up;
  • Use a brim.

I printed in PETG and I find the platform to be not quite rigid enough, so I plan to address that sometime too.

Model origin

The author remixed this model.

Differences of the remix compared to the original

The spacing of the top frame holes is different than in v1. This version is suitable for mounting with the dome legs in the Y direction. The leg sockets are for 2020 aluminum extrusion. For mounting the legs in Y as described, they should be cut to 210-230mm.

The dome feet are similar to the originals, except also for 2020 extrusion.

The spool stand towers now have a slight inward tilt so as to grab the spool axle better.

Most, if not all, dome accessories for the v1 should also work on the v2.
