I had to install a spare Unifi U6+ wifi access point outdoor to connect to various appliances (EV car charger, EV Car, Shelly EM that monitors wind turbine, etc…)

U6+ is rated IP 54, then only dust protected + resistant to 10 minutes of splashing water ; not enough for a device that will be exposed to rainy days.

I got inspired by this perfect but very expensive enclosure : https://altelix.com/altelix-vented-weatherproof-enclosure-for-ubiquiti-unifi-u6-enterprise-access-point ; so I customized an IP65 outdoor electrical junction box that does a perfect job.

Your shopping list if you want to do it : 

The box from Amazon is suprisingly good quality for its price, 

Then proceed as follows :

  • print the spacer bracket, I enclosed a 3MF if you want to use my settings (generic PLA, 0.2 quality, no first layer) and even F3D if you want to modify it
  • using a step drill bit, drill a 19 mm hole on each upper part of the sides to attach the airing grilles
  • attach the printed spacer bracket to the box with 3* countersunk screw
  • attach the U6+ base to the bracket using  2* countersunk screws
  • using a step drill bit, make a hole in the box under the bracket to let the ethernet cable in
  • attach your box to the outside wall, seal the ethernet cable hole with silicone cartridge
  • install U6+, mine is PoE
  • close the box, don't forget to push the sealing cord into the cover grove
  • et voilà !
