My experimental filament profile uses a single perimeter of 0.8 mm extrusion width based on the Maker's Muse guidance for tough TPU prints. I modified the first 3mm in PS to use 30% cubic infill with four solid bottom layers and 3 solid top layers. 95A NAGA brand TPU (amazon sale) produced a nice stiff base with this but the top conical portion came out very flexible. I cut out a conical ‘cap’ from the original design that I printed in Inland PLA scaled to 103%. The cap fits tightly over the top portion of the first print with some gentle pressure around the edges….like putting a lid on tupperware. No glue is required. The result works really well and there was no need to change filament. Both were black so the assembly looks like a single print.
The author remixed this model.
Instead of changing filament in a single print, I incorporated a quick PLA print to use as a snap on ‘cap’.
