As on my large tool-organizer the space for inserting the gridfinity system was given (space of 410x415mm), I started to find the best size gridfinity grid which was 9x9 grids.

Next I imported a standard 9x9 grid base plate and surrounded this with a 410x415x5mm plate. I cut out little less than the size of the 9x9 grid (for overlapping purposes). Then I joined this to a one piece grid plate with a 9x9 grid inside, with outer dimensions of 410x415mm.

How print such a large part?

Now, I divided the large plate into 4 smaller plates, fitting my MK3/MK4. Note that I cut these in a manner that I overcut the matching surfaces by 0.10mm, which resulted into a 0.2mm gap for receiving some glue later. After printing I put the puzzle together, applied glue side by side, plate by plate, put some Scotchtape over the bottom side of the joints, so avoiding messing with glue on my workbench. In oder to keep a good fit from jointed parts I put some 4x4 or so bins over the joints and put some heavy weight on it, let it dry for an hour or two.

Carefully carrying the complete assembly to my tool organizer, cautiously putting it into the foreseen space, it fitted 100%. Now I can use this large gridfinity plate for 9x9 units.

Mission completed!
