This is an adaptor mount to fit a TS100 soldering iron to a Dremel Workstation drill press. This allows the press to be used to melt threaded inserts into a 3D print more precisely. The threaded part of the mount screws directly into the drill press, keeping the soldering iron perfectly vertical while applying heat and light pressure to the inserts.
For the assembly, you'll need:
(and yes, I know there is a certain irony in using trap nuts for a device to apply threaded inserts!)
The main part should be printed upside down (as shown in the STL viewer) and needs supports. There is a small internal notch to allow the iron to be positioned correctly. See photo.
Although the iron is quite close to the printed part, there has been no deformation of the PETG in over a month of use including a test leaving the iron on for over an hour.
You can use one of the standard tips available for the TS100, but the one I'm using is supplied by CNC Kitchen. It makes the job so much easier and even the really cheap injection moulding inserts sit perfectly with this tool.
