This adjustable spool holder lets you carry any number of spools on top of a DIN rail for storage next to the printer or inside a dry box. Mounted on top a DIN rail, two regular sized Prusament spools will for example fit into an IKEA 365 container. The spools sit on top of 608 type bearings and the holders can be adjusted in width and fixed in place using M4 socket head screws that are tightened against the DIN rail in the middle of each spool holder body.
Print: Print from PETG for great sturdiness, PLA will probably work as well.
Materials: The design uses CNC kitchen threaded inserts for mounting the bearings. Use M5 countersink screws to make sure the bearings are centred on the screw holes. Use 608 type bearings and make sure to check that the bearing seats on the holder print are even and free of burr before mounting the bearings. For the center screw, use M4 threaded inserts. A piece of DIN rail of 145 mm length will fit into an IKEA 365 10.6l container.
