Hotend cooling module of adjustable quiet print system - WASP FANGS QUAD 5015
This is my V3 design of more efficient and quiet cooling system for Elegoo Neptune 3 Pro based on 5015 blowing turbo fans. I named it "Wasp Fangs Quad" for its resulting shape proximity to the head of dangerous but very useful insect - Yellow Jacket Wasp.
This mod is involving two 5015 turbo fans wired to buck converter for reducing input voltage from 24V to e.g. 12V. It leads to slower rotation and much more quiet cooling. The power of airflow from dual fans working at 12V is much higher than with stock and crazy loud single 4015 turbo fan working at 24V. This mod is allowing you to print at the quiet noise level of stepping motors, but also significantly boost cooling power when needed for higher temperatures prints comparing to stock cooling.
UPDATE: I moved buck converter inside printer frame near Mainboard. It allows to just redirect fan port wiring from Mainboard to converter and then using stock wiring of printhead to connect heatsink fans to reduced voltage.
Hotend cooling fangs are efficiently redirecting 5015 airflow into hotend heatsink center with minimal loss of blowing power (thanks to consistent wide duct geometry). Duct output side areas are widened to extend airflow flowing trough heatsink sides as well. Fangs can be opened to inspect and clean heatshink. Print nozzle front visibility angle is also significantly increased with this design.
Print details:
All components are designed to be minimalistic though strong and easy printable with no support (or minimal 80 degree overhangs support). Printed all parts with 0.4 nozzle, 0.2 layer and 100mm/s, pausing print manually to switch colors.
NOTE: printhead alignment sensor need to be remounted from the stock brace. I'm attaching it to custom printed bar (model included) using M3x12 bolt + M3 nut. Then attaching mount bar to the M3 thread on printhead back metal plate just below left top roller using another M3x8 bolt. It is easier to first plug in sensor cable, then attach mount bar to the printhead metal plate.
