This is a digital number yet analog, you can use this digital number in many ways as:

Move the Bits around to form the desired number, any unused bits can be stacked on top of another bits.

Print the bits different colour than the plate, or have the bits have double sided colour, one matching the plate, other side have desired contrast colour.
